Here are some of the best experiences that we have sipped.
Location: London
Postcard Teas is a charming little tea shop that carries quality teas from small growers all over the world. The selection may seem small but it is because they only carry what they deem to be the best. This means that it is hard to go wrong no matter which tea you choose.
We enjoyed a nice afternoon of tea tasting with the owner, Tim. He was well-versed in the art of tea and steeped our teas perfectly. First, we tried the Sparrow's Tongue (from a tea farm that uses no pesticides or artificial fertilizers). It had a light, clean and earthy flavor. We also tasted the Gianfranco's Earl Grey. (Gianfranco, who is a tea grower in Southern Italy, only selects fruit that is grown without chemicals and cold presses them for this Earl Grey.) This was one of the most fragrant versions I have ever tasted. It was light, floral, fruity, and delightful.
During our tasting, we purchased some postcard teas to mail back to our family and friends. The "postcards" were actually adorable bags that would be filled with tea by the store and mailed to anywhere in the world that we desired.
On our way out, I noticed a golden teapot in the window which resembled a magic genie lamp. While I had an urge to rub it so that I could wish for a longer stay in London, I left happily enough with a bunch of wonderful tea instead.
Each of these bags represents a different flavor of tea. You can buy one and write a message on the back of the postcard bag. The store will fill the bag with delectable tea and mail it for you.
Location: Beverly Hills
Having afternoon tea at The Living Room located inside the Peninsula Beverly Hills was classy and charming. The service was - in a word - superb. This had been my niece's very first tea time, and she totally loved it, as did I.
The cozy living room was filled with happy yellow sofas and bright warm light spilled in through big, beautiful windows. We had a view of the lush, green garden outside. I wish this was MY living room. It was without question utterly enchanting.
My family spent the afternoon sitting on a comfy sofa and enjoying a lovely coffee table full of scones, tea sandwiches, pastries, and wonderful tea. There was also a harpist next to us who played with such grace that I could have been lulled into a peaceful afternoon nap.
The Living Room is a perfect place to spend some quality time with friends and loved ones. I highly recommend it.
Belvedere Blend
Belvedere is their signature tea, chosen to delight tea aficionados. Like a beautiful Burgundy wine, this cup offers a lush aroma with hints of dried fruit.
Earl Grey
Fresh citrus notes of bergamot fruit marrying it with the delicate aroma of Jasmine blossoms. It’s a perfect cup of afternoon tea.
Pure Egyptian Chamomile
The finest chamomile has a flavor and aroma reminiscent of apples. These full flower buds yield liquor with the texture and body of a fine Chardonnay.
Tahitian Vanilla
The buttery smooth flavor of fine Vanilla flows over a background of mild black tea to produce a rich, full-bodied cup.
